ABOUT ABOUT

Pitch, Please!
Great creative pitches are part presentation and part dog and pony show. They convey information—like a presentation—but more often than not, also have a bit of Hitchcockian suspense and/or Kaughman-esque showmanship. They have to enlighten, excite, and compel the audience. Much of the conventional presentation rulebook can be thrown out the window and be replaced with surprising ideas, clear communication, and borderline criminal levels of stalking. This session will give an overview of topics covered in Barry's course on pitching that he developed for The University of Alabama. As guest talks go, this should be a pretty good one. So you should totally come. Apologies in advance for the pony’s behavior. He’s a bit of biter.

Mark Barry Bio
Mark Barry's first job was being a soda jerk at a movie theater in northern Virginia. Over 20 years later, he is now the Director of Minerva, the creative portfolio specialization in advertising at The University of Alabama. Barry's professional experience during the time between those includes time as an art director with J. Walter Thompson (HOU/NY), UnitedHealth Group (SLC), and Progrexion (SLC), as well as founding—and later, selling—an online art magazine, and running his own agency, Subata Corporation.
